|Chris has a proven track record in taking on challenging situations in unfamiliar territory.
Chris graduated from James Madison University in 1991 with a BS in Communications where he was an unlikely, yet successful student athlete; advancing from a walk-on to a full-scholarship 4-year starter and all-state 1-AA player.
Following graduation, Chris peddled his bike across the country from Virginia to points west. Chris returned to Virginia the following season and settled in Blacksburg where he completed a successful 13-year career in public sector technology. As a salesperson, marketing and customer service executive, and president of Tele-Works, Inc., Chris helped the company grow from 5 to 40 employees and become a lasting and trusted brand.
Chris decided to start a new career and explore his interest in architecture by earning a Masters degree from Virginia Tech. While earning this degree, Chris was picked from the student body of the College of Architecture and Urban Studies/Blacksburg campus to represent the school in the Virginia Society AIA Emerging Leaders in Architecture (ELA) program. The ELA is a 10-month select honors academy designed to mentor the professionís next leaders.
Chris obtained his masters degree with honors and earned outstanding graduate student awards in 2008 and 2010 and received the AIA School Metal and Henry Adams Certificate in 2010. Chris graduated in a challenging period for the profession. In the face of this challenge, Chris made adjustments and offered to help fill gaps in the practice of small architectural firms. Because of his resourcefulness and ability to self-manage, Chris has gained experience while providing valuable services to firms as an independent contractor.
Chris is resourceful, using available tools and applying tenacity and creativity to solve problems and get things done. He is a committed individual looking to relocate to Virginia Beach and continue his education in architecture by contributing to the practice of a small to mid-size design firm.
